| Restriction
of Hazardous Substances ( RoHS ) The
restriction of hazardous substances (RoHS) directive, issued in 2003 by the European
Commission, applies to electrical and electronic equipment place on the market
as of July 2006. The legislation restricts the use of six substances in the equipments
distributed to menber states of the European Union. The
directive specifies four heavy metals and two flame retardants: 1.
Cadmium 2. Mercury 3.
lead 4. Hexavalent Chromium 5.Polybrominated
diphenyl ethers (PBDE) 6. Polybrominated
biphenyls (PBB) As an environmentally
